A&M RECORDS POSTERS

A&M Records began printing promotional posters in the mid-1960s and continued using them into the 2000's. The collection below are all official posters that were sent to radio and retail. 

On A&M Records.com shows you the album posters within each artist's discography. The posters below were specifically for retailers. Most are standalone cardboard posters. They are highly collectible.

A&M 25th ANNIVERSARY CLASSICS SERIES

A&M Records celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1987. At the time, compact discs were new. A&M intended the Classics series to be a limited edition. The demand for the Classics was so great that the Classics remained in A&M's active catalog for many years. 

The Classics were originally packaged in a CD longbox. Here you will see the Classics arranged in order, with longbow and cassette for the few that were issued in that format. 

A&M RECORDS AUDIO MASTER + SERIES

This series originated in the 1980s as A&M United States reissued its own plus its former CTI Records line as audiophile recordings. These vinyl albums boasted    
         "Virgin Quiex Vinyl custom blended for A&M [with] all the low-noise surface characteristcs of the best imported vinyls. Pressed in a cleam room environment.   
         Half-Speed Mastered. Up to the highest standard for lowest noise and distortion.    
         Damage-Resistant Packaging. Discs cooled for 24 hours to prevent warpage. Protected inside by poly inner sleeve--outside by losse-fitting permanent plastic envelope."

A&M RECORDS BACKLOT SERIES

In 1996 A&M Records created a series of greatest hits albums. The covers for all of them were designed by Chuck Beeson. 

A&M RECORDS CD-3

These are the mini-CD singles, 3-inch vs. the 5-inch album size from 1988. Digtal Audis Disc Corporation in Terre Haute, Indiana manufactured this series. Each CD-3 was packaged with a cardboard holder that allowed the CD-3 to be played. This series had only 20 releases. All of the CD-3's were packaged on a cardboard backing with the sleeve and CD showing through the plastic top. Th complete series is shown below in order of release.

A&M RECORDS FOURSIDER SERIES

The Foursider Series was initially released in 1973 with a SP 35XX stock number. Each was a double vinyl album greatest hits collection. In 1986 the series was reissued in the SP 60XX series. The original pressings came with an obi that had the song titles.The reissues printed the song titles on the album cover.

A&M RECORDS FOREPLAY

A&M Records introduced the Foreplay Series in the mid-1970s. Foreplay were promotional 12-inch singles intended for retailers. It was a numbered series that featured new music from one or more artists. The discs were packaged in a cardboard sleeve printed with two different Foreplay logos with a matching booklet that showed the featured artist's new album cover, described the album and had an order form. 

 

A&M RECORDS JUKEBOX ALBUMS

In the 1960s and 1970s, 7-inch, 4 or 6-song albums were popular in diners. A&M Records licensed their records to both Little LPs and Seeburg. These albums were packaged in a paper sleeve or a cardboard sleeve. Both featured album art from the original full-size package and title strips that were placed in the units at the diner's tables.

A&M RECORDS PICTURE DISCS

Picture discs were introduced in the 1920s. They appeared occasionally from that point until the 1970s. A&M Records first picture disc was An Evening With Groucho Marx in 1972. The next picture disc was Frampton Comes Alive! in 1976. A&M issued a handful of album as limited edition picture discs through 1978 but continued to release singles in that format through 1988.
