Jiva
Jiva is a Sanskrit word that means "that which breathes."
The band was friends with Olivia Arias. At the time she was George Harrison's girlfriend and later his wife. Jiva gave her a tape of their music that she passed on to George. George also heard the band perform live and that led to a three year contract for seven albums with A&M providing distribution and promotion.
Following the release of their self-titled debut album, Jiva toured the US as the support act for Fleetwood Mac.
Likely due to Harrison's legal dispute with A&M Records, Jiva did not release any more albums under its original contract.
