Breakout Records was an imprint label of A&M Records, Ltd. in Great Britain that primarily released hit R&B singles in the United States in England. Its first release was Janet Jackson's "Let's Wait Awhile" on March 13, 1987. Breakout products were issued as 7-inch and 12-inch singles and compact discs, usually with a picture sleeve. The imprint was abandoned in 1990 after the sale of A&M Records to PolyGram.
