In the Fall of 1980, George Winston released his solo piano album Autumn on Lost Lake Arts. By August of 1981, the album sold 52,000 copies. The second album release was Bola Sete's Ocean in August 1981.

Lost Lake Arts was a division of Windham Hill Productions, Inc. Albums were issued with the Windham Hill plastic liner with Windham Hill-styled covers and typography.Windham Hill said that the label "reissued jazz, blues, traditional ballads and other works that span musical history." During its affiliation with Windham Hill (and the distribution arrangement with A&M Records), Lost Lake Arts released 13 albums.
