Veronique Beliveau

"When I signed with A&M I was hoping to do something in English. Because, with the fact that I was changing my style of music, I was also in direct competition with what's happening in English all over the world. What sells in Quebec for pop-rock is what sells all over the world....Also, for the past two years there's been a demand for me in English Canada."--Veronique Beliveau, RPM, February 28, 1987

Veronique Beliveau was a Quebec native. A&M Records Canada was as committed to its French-language artists as its English-language artists. For A&M Canada she recorded four albums and a number of singles. Three of her singles, "Je Suis Fidele," "C'est Un Reveur" and "Cache Ton Coeur (Cover Girl) were No. 1 in Quebec.

Carpenters fans remember her Veronique album from 1989 because Richard Carpenter arranged, produced and sang backing vocals on it.
