Around May 1994 A&M Records Canada signed Ashley MacIsaac. Billboard called him "the most sought-after Canadian newcomer in years."

Ashley MacIsaac told Billboard of his Hi, How Are You Today? album, "I'm a traditional fiddler, but this is an untraditional recording. It's an overview of all the things which have gone through my head in the past 18 months. I'm playing fiddle tunes in the same rhythmic struction I always have, but I wanted a recording [where] if you were listening to a Beastie Boys album, you could put this on and it would be just as interesting and groove the same way."

MacIsaac's 1995 album Hi, How Are You Today? was triple platinum in Canada.

Ashley left A&M Records in 1999.
