MAGENTA RECORDS

Magenta Records logo

Steve Backer launched Magenta Records on April 22, 1985 as a Windham Hill imprint label. Its logo was first used commercially on that date. The logo was filed and registered with the U.S. Patent Office. The trademark was cancelled on November 4, 1992.

While distributed by A&M Records, Magenta released six albums. In 1987, Windham Hill reissued all the albums with the original art but with the Windham Hill Jazz logo and new stock numbers. All of the albums were available on vinyl, cassette and compact disc.
